"Those who live are those who fight." Jesse Mindlin is a Special Education Teacher at Torrey Pines High School, while also coaching the wrestling team. Jesse went to high school at San Dieguito and college at Southern Oregon University. Coach Mindlin says, "Athletes who choose to wrestle all four years of their high school education are better prepared to deal with life."

Coach Mendis is a TPHS graduate. He attended The University of Michigan and lettered in wrestling there. Wrestling is a big part of Coach Mendis' life. He is founder of Safemat, a company that specializes in anti-microbial coatings for wrestling mats. He enjoys outdoor sports like snowboarding and backpacking. He believes wrestling is the only sport that provides one with the ability to build self-discipline, inner-strength, and the desire to work through and beyond any obstacle in life.
